"Gypsies" is a photo album entirely designed by the great photographer and reporter Hans Silvester. Hans Silvester has lived among the gypsies communities of Europe and the United States. He shared their daily lives and became friends with many of them, in particular Manitas de Platas, whose portrait appears in this album, as well as Chico, whom he met when he was very young, before he founded the group Chico et les Gypsies.

Gypsies or Roma originate from India and Pakistan and travel the world. Through his contact with them, Hans has discovered the lifestyle of his dreams. He shares their habit of moving, traveling and changing scenery with the seasons, encounters and reports. He enjoys making friends through the diversity of his contacts.

Little by little, in contact with the West, gypsies have become sedentary. Deep down, they remain intrinsically nomadic, never hesitating to travel miles to attend a pilgrimage or festival. Travellers of all stripes are proud of their ancestral traditions and their way of life close to nature, giving us sedentary folk a real lesson in freedom. Photographer Hans Silvester, who has shared the daily lives of Gypsies and gypsies in Europe and North America, paints a humanist portrait of an often misunderstood people. The result is a series of magnificent photographs.

Each photograph has been carefully selected by the artist, and each page is printed in photo quality to further enhance them. The limited edition "Cats in the Sun" is the first part of a collection of Hans Silvester's greatest hits.
