Marc Nucera
Lots of power for this tree-sculpting artist who bought himself a chainsaw with his first savings. Previously a landscape craftsman, an ultra-talented pruner, lover of trees to the point that he would like to reincarnate as a squirrel. Marc Nucera rejects the idea that trees are worthless once they are dead. With his chainsaw as only tool, he transforms the dead tree, gives a new thrill to its material, erases its austerity, allows it to continue its cycle by transforming it into a new work of art. For 30 years, Marc Nucera has been training in his studio garden near Avignon to acquire " gesture formulas". The work with the chainsaw is tiring, but Marc says he is exhausted at the end of his work, cause of his creation, by the hold of the forces transmitted by the material which seized him and which inspired him... the reason why he is so empty. What we love about Marc Nucera is this osmosis with the tree, this love of wood and softness, its smell, its way of capturing the warmth of light. "The tree is a power of life".
