For 30 years, Marc Nucera has been training in his studio garden to acquire “gesture formulas”.  “He wields his tools with unrivalled virtuosity, blending delicacy and determination. The drapes, pleats, twists and volutes conceived by this exceptional cutter of shapes and matter, inert or living, play with light and shadow, giving the impression of liquidity, unctuosity, as if melting the hard substance - cypress, cedar or plane - that he works with unfailing tenacity”. For his creations, Marc doesn't really make any preliminary drawings; he prefers to adapt to the tree, to play with its knots... “to create is to forget oneself, to let go of the intuition that comes from the wind”. Working with a chainsaw is tiring, and the gesture demanding. But if Marc Nucera says he's exhausted at the end of his work, it's because of his creation, because of the forces transmitted by the material that took hold of him and inspired him, that he's as if emptied.
