This photography was taken by Hans Silvester during his trip to the United States where he takes his Volkswagen combi to cross with his wife the great roads to the south and to the American west. It is in New Orleans that he meets this jazzman with a strong character, wearing a beautiful top hat and smoking cigarettes. By dint of patience, trust was established between the photographer and the artist and Hans Silvester was able to capture the depth of this look and this gesture of the smoker at the moment he shoves his cigarette between his lips.
