The starting point of this artist’s book is a poem by Michel Houellebecq, which inspired Gabriela Morawetz to create a series of photographs and casts in resonance with its universe.

"The Body of Absolute Identity" is a rare text within Houellebecq’s body of work.

Here, one discovers a voice that is more meditative than provocative, inhabited by a genuine spiritual quest. The poem explores emptiness, contemporary solitude, and the longing for a lost unity, intertwining the body, light, and the notion of the absolute. Beneath its restrained, almost clinical writing emerges a discreet yet profound aspiration toward transcendence. The text functions less as a demonstration than as an inner echo chamber, suspended between melancholy and silent revelation.

Patricia Dupuy and Bernard Soria have “turned into a book” this encounter between poetry, photography, and sculpture.

Fold-outs, insertions of antique papers, material effects, and variations in texture create a subtle rhythm and guide the eye naturally through the reading experience.

The Renard Pâle artist’s books bring together the text of a poet or writer with the work of a painter, photographer, visual artist, sculptor, collage artist, fashion designer, or other creator, all presented within a beautifully and ingeniously crafted case. Patricia Dupuy and Bernard Soria are both the instigators of these remarkable encounters, where artists and writers enter into dialogue, and the creators behind these books that become works of art in their own right, not only through their content, but also through their original physical form.

Each edition is produced in a very limited run, with 30 copies being the maximum, and every copy is numbered and signed by both the writers and the artists.

All Renard Pâle artist’s books are available at the gallery.
