This is the story of a forgotten onion. Thought to be good for compost, under Denis Brihat's watchful eye it has risen to its feet, sprouting in the wind. The contrast between the dull, crumpled skin of the onion and the vigor of the green sprout is a reminder of the passage of time, of transformation, of the discreet resilience of ordinary things. The onion, in the process of rotting and being reborn, becomes a plant metaphor for patience, renewal and the link between end and origin.

Denis Brihat has devoted his life to exploring the plant world through photography. Settling in Provence in the late 1950s, he developed a singular body of work, combining technical rigor with a poetic eye. His images - onions, tulips, persimmons, kiwis, dead leaves, trees in all seasons... - reveal the intimate structure of living things, magnified by artisanal processes: iron, copper and selenium bends, hand-coloring with gold...

Each photograph is a meditation. Far from the instantaneous gesture, Denis Brihat cultivates slowness, repetition, variation and innovation, without ever breaking the link with nature. This exhibition pays tribute to a great photographer, whose silent work invites us to slow down in order to see better.
