The secret intimacy of a flower revealed by a nature-loving photographer who discovered that copper toning can produce pink hues in an initially black-and-white photo.
Denis Brihat has devoted his life to exploring the plant world through photography. Settling in Provence in the late 1950s, he developed a singular body of work, combining technical rigor with a poetic eye. His images - onions, tulips, persimmons, kiwis, dead leaves, trees in all seasons... - reveal the intimate structure of living things, magnified by artisanal processes: iron, copper and selenium bends, hand-coloring with gold...
Each photograph is a meditation. Far from the instantaneous gesture, Denis Brihat cultivates slowness, repetition, variation and innovation, without ever breaking the link with nature. This exhibition pays tribute to a great photographer, whose silent work invites us to slow down in order to see better.
