Than Kyaw Htay is a Burmese painter, whom we met several years ago while Myanmar was still closed and artists had no international visibility. We fell under the spell of Than Kyaw Htay and his works, and so we invited him to Provence for a solo exhibition, in the gallery Retour De Voyage.

A few years later, Than Kyaw Htay still meets with so much success and entrusts us each year with some of its latest creations.

Like many artists in Burma, Than Kyaw Htay learned his techniques from older painters, recognized as masters in their country. As far as Kyaw Htay is concerned, it is with U Soe Htay, U Tun Aye, U Win Pe Myint, U Kyaw Thu Yin, U Win Tint, U Thet Oo, U Than Kywe that he developed all his art. It was also very marked at the beginning of his career by Van Gogh who influenced his series of landscapes of the Shan state. Vibrant colors, luminous landscapes, characters seen from the back, characterize his first paintings.
