Signature and dedication, sale of the original photos at the gallery Retour De Voyage

A book entirely dedicated to onions, which turn out to be extraordinary models.

They are magnificently highlighted by the prints of our master of silver photography, Denis Brihat, and by the texts of Michel Poivert, a photography historian who heads the History of Art department at the University of Paris 1-Panthéon-Sorbonne, and who is president of the future Collège international de la photographie du Grand Paris. A leading figure in the world of photography, he is the author of numerous articles and books on photography, including 50 Years of French Photography from 1970 to the Present.

The book is on sale at the Retour De Voyage gallery, as are the original prints, signed and numbered by the artist, of the photographs featured in it. Retour De Voyage also offers studio visits by appointment.

Denis Brihat was born in Paris on September 16, 1928. After a brief period at the rue de Vaugirard photography school, he continued his apprenticeship in the field, working alongside Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis and Edouard Boubat. For a time, he worked as a photojournalist and illustrator, mainly in India, where he won the Prix Niépce in 1957. Weary of Parisian life and in search of a different way of life, in 1958 he moved to Bonnieux in Provence, where he still lives, to devote himself to his research into the theme of nature, in the form of what he calls "photographic tableaux". From 1968 onwards, he introduced color into his images in a very personal way: he developed a palette of colors based on processes known as "metallic bends". He also used the delicate technique of grignotage, a chemical etching of the print. He continued to explore and perfect these processes throughout his career. His photographs have been exhibited worldwide, most notably at MoMA in New York, the Musée Nicéphore-Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône, the Galerie du Château d'Eau in Toulouse, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne... Numerous institutions in France and abroad collect his photographs, including the Center for Creative Photography in Arizona and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie [MEP] in Paris.
