Mossi bronze pin

€500.00

An ethnic art object, this ornament was a sign of belonging and power for the Mossi, the majority people in Burkina Faso.

These hairpins, like other ornaments, represented the power and wealth of the men and women of the Mossi peoples in Burkina Faso. The Mossi established a powerful kingdom in sub-Saharan Africa in the 14th and 15th centuries, and even today, the king has a residence in Ougadougou. The ceremonies organized by his entourage are still as respected as in the past. They are an integral part of the country's heritage.

The Retour De Voyage gallery is very proud to present such a well-preserved and delicate object, which finds its place among other African art objects, and in particular other small everyday objects, all filled with spirituality.
