Tribal art, Democratic Republic of Congo, ancient powder flask slung over warriors' shoulders.

Antique gunpowder flasks from the 19th century. Made by the craftsmen of the time, they are beautifully decorated with geometric motifs that have faded with use, and have a deep brown patina. They all feature the same cord attachment system, enabling the owner to carry the object with him or her, and to show off their power through the artistic detailing that adorns this necessary hunting and war object.

There are 6 of them in all, making up a set available at the Retour De Voyage gallery as part of its spring exhibition. They can be purchased as a whole or individually.
