In this composition, the scene subtly evokes the Tarot card of Temperance.

Here, forms intertwine and respond to one another in a fragile balance, as if suspended outside of time. Human and animal figures, both distinct and fused, suggest a slow passage — that of a transformation that forces nothing, yet gently unites. The gestures are fluid, almost ritualistic: a resting hand, an exchanged gaze, as though an invisible current were flowing between each being. The colors, interwoven and vibrant, evoke an inner alchemy — a patient blending of emotions, instincts, and consciousness. The hybrid creature embodies this point of convergence: neither entirely one nor the other, but an equilibrium in the making. It becomes the symbol of a profound adjustment, where opposites no longer cancel each other out, but harmonize.

Ruta Jusionyte has developed a body of work that is instantly recognizable, at the crossroads of Neo-Expressionism and Magical Realism. Born in 1978 in Lithuania, she lives and works in France and has established herself as a significant figure on the contemporary European art scene.

Her work explores the relationships between humans and animals, in compositions where figures intertwine, respond to one another, and protect each other. Horses, hares, elephants, and hybrid creatures embody inner forces, between instinct and consciousness. Through a warm palette and dense materiality, she develops a powerful pictorial language, both accessible and deeply symbolic.
