Traditional Dan masks are loaded with symbolic content that makes their diversion difficult, except if we consider only their form or we blend into their identity.
Reconciling Michel Loeb’s desire to bring the small Dan masks through his mirror was facilitated by the use of masks that were carved with traditional shapes but that were not sacralized.
There is then no barrier to Michel Loeb transforming them, according to his inspiration, so that they become his totally submissive creatures, so that they populate his dreams that we can thus share.
We then have the double pleasure of finding the shape of the mask, the trace of the hand of its sculptor and the poetry of the artist painter, in a single object of art.
