In a world dominated by increasingly dark shades of gray, one—sometimes two—white doves appear, along with touches of red.
This work is part of the series "Where Doves Gather" (4 paintings—60 x 60 cm), the second chapter of the exhibition "The Strength Within Silence".
Where Doves Gather, 2026
Acrylic on canvas - Wooden stretcher - 60 x 60 cm
With "Where Doves Gather", Khin Zaw Latt continues the visual narrative begun in "Whispers of Peace".
The doves remain at the heart of the paintings, yet their role begins to evolve. Some works feature several birds, while others present only one. The title of the series therefore extends beyond a literal description. Rather than depicting a visible gathering, it suggests a possibility, an aspiration, or perhaps a place where different presences might come together.
The compositions remain dominated by deep greys, translucent washes and flowing acrylic that define the artist's visual language throughout the exhibition. Nothing here feels entirely at peace. The doves do not fly across serene skies; instead, they quietly inhabit a world that remains unsettled and in constant motion.
It is also within this series that subtle touches of red appear for the first time, absent from both the preceding and the following works. Khin Zaw Latt offers no explanation for them. They may be read as moments of tension within the composition, chromatic interruptions, vibrations of the painted surface, or they may carry a more personal meaning. Their ambiguity is part of what gives this series its quiet complexity.
More than a meditation on peace, Where Doves Gather reflects on the fragility of human connection and the possibility of encounter.
