Painted on a large wooden panel (1.60 m high, 65 cm wide, 4 cm thick)
The tiger is a sacred animal in Hinduism, and according to legend, the deity Maa Durga rode Damon, a black tiger that represented her unlimited power. This big cat embodies victory over negative forces, which is why it is a key figure in traditional Indian designs.
Brought back from a wonderful trip to Rajasthan, this hand-painted wooden panel is a landmark of Indian craftsmanship. Initially, it was used to close the windows of the interior of the Maharajas' palaces. Today, the two Bengal tigers have been removed from their functions and are displayed in our gallery. It must be said that they are impressive! Their paws, tails and tongues are reminiscent of the postures of mystical Chinese dragons.
Proud to attract attention, the felines have confided in us their desire to travel... At Retour De Voyage we can only understand! They wish to discover new horizons while keeping their superbness to invest a new territory. If they seem a little full of themselves, their strength and beauty will win you over: you are bound to love them. Less constraining and more imposing than their little cousin the cat, tigers will know how to stay in their place and integrate perfectly into your home.
