This charmingly old-fashioned bench is deep enough (around 80 cm) to allow its occupant a comfortable siesta while waiting for the next train. Carved from teak, with attractive shapes and turned wooden legs, it should have been strong enough to withstand many more years. Unfortunately, due to a transport accident, one of the cross slats making up the seat was damaged... which explains the very reasonable price of this bench, which can nevertheless be repaired by a skilled carpenter.
In any case, it's an invitation to daydream... how many passengers have used this bench? to which destinations? in which station was it installed? one imagines Victoria Station in Bombay, that cathedral-like building built under the British Empire, which has become the emblem of the city...
