This book presents Ndary Lô, an artist with a complex personality whose creation, the fruit of a long maturation and a permanent questioning, is very diverse.

To be published in July 2020

Launch and signature at Galerie Retour De Vpyage , during the exhibition "Silent Walks" which brings together the emblematic statues of the walkers of Ndary Lô and the paintings of Than Kyaw Htay who works on the movements of crowds.

This book is a collection of texts by Dominique Berthet, Joëlle Busca, Marie-José Crespin, Babacar Mbaye Diop, Meadow Dibble Hilley, Pierre Jaccaud, Jacques Rouayroux and Sylvain Sankalé on the work of Ndary Lô supplemented by a sum of biographical elements and multiple photographs that make it possible to situate the artist and his works in their world and in ours. He participates in the recognition of this artist already considered one of the most important in his country.

Ndary Lo was born in 1961 in Senegal; he died in June 2017 in Lyon (France). Sculptor of great talent, he left us of his too short terrestrial passage a whole settlement of long-lived figures and many question marks. His work, identified by the silhouettes of his Walkers, is that of a veritable demiurge. This artist is known through his sculptures but also by installations. This book reveals different aspects of his work. It shows an artist with a complex personality whose creation, particularly diverse, is the result of a long maturation and a permanent questioning, both technical and intellectual.
