This is the second totem pole in the series, where abstract forms stand out against a white background, bringing real power to the painting and recalling the power of African art.

Coffignier observes and explores everyday life. He translates his emotions into energetic painting. Africa has reinforced the magical, powerful style of his paintings. Earthy colours, ochres, red ochres, whites, greys, blacks and then accents, sometimes an orange or a small cold blue note in a bubbling of materials, colours, splashes, stripes, bites, scratches, and then the balance presented, imposed by the large masses. He knows how to sweep us away with his gestures that play with shapes, and he brings that dimension and presence that are his signature.
