In his work, which he has been developing for many years, Dominique Coffignier brings substance to bear, taking us with force, warmth and power to the African continent, in a three-dimensional painting. Dominique's reduced palette of colors and his gestures that assemble the colors draw us into a terrestrial fresco of chasms, shores and volcanoes, sometimes with zoomorphic forms, reminiscent of African art, echoing the statuettes presented in the exhibition.

Coffignier observes and explores the everyday. He translates his emotions into energetic painting. Africa has reinforced the magical, powerful style of his canvases. Earthy colors, ochres, red ochres, whites, grays, blacks and then accents, sometimes an orange or a small cold blue note in a bubbling of materials, colors, splashes, stripes, bites, scratches, and then the balance presented, imposed by the large masses. He knows how to carry us away thanks to his gesture that plays with shapes, and he brings that dimension and presence that are his signature.
