The face masks are named Ndoma, meaning double. They are indeed considered a duplicate of the person they represent, often an idealized character. They are among the oldest traditions of the Baoulé and manifest at the end of the entertainment dance ceremonies. Each of these masks is distinguished by hairstyles, choice and location of scarifications.

Retour De Voyage was entrusted with a private collection of African masks and pygmy loincloths to present them for sale. A selection has been made among the proposed items and we are certain of the quality of this exhibition. This is not the first time that Retour De Voyage has sold authentic African masks. Do you remember the exhibition "Passeurs de Rêves" in 2016, which brought together the Dan masks from the Rouayroux collection, the masks painted by Michel Loeb and the photographs of the scarecrows of the Omo Valley, hunted down by the tireless Hans Silvester?
