Recycled Keaykolor paper - Buffalo hide binding - Size: 14 cm x 20 cm. Kalach is an art book from the publishing house Le Renard Pâle. It is presented as a travel diary and contains 26 photographs by Hans Silvester, shooted in Ethiopia among the Surma people in the Omo Valley. They were printed by the photographer in his workshop on Fuji paper and are accompanied by Mikhail Kalashnikov's biography signed by Patricia Dupuy and Hans Silvester. Mikhail Kalashnikov was the creator of the rifle featured in the photographs. Kalashnikov was, according to himself, a self-taught tinkerer who combined innate mechanical skills with the study of weaponry to design arms that achieved battlefield ubiquity.Even though Kalashnikov felt sorrow at the weapons' uncontrolled distribution, he took pride in his inventions and in their reputation for reliability, emphasizing that his rifle is "a weapon of defense" and "not a weapon for offense" (sic)
